This competition challenges students to design a sustainable item in one of four categories using aluminum. The designs will be entered into the D&T Challenge, a competition run by the UK aluminium industry.
The Alu D&T Challenge offers students aged 11-14 the opportunity to test out their design skills and whilst winning a competition is a great experience, the real value lies in what all the participants will learn along the way. The Alu D&T Challenge allows students to work together on a project as part of a team: To share out tasks, brainstorm ideas and work on developing their designs. They need to manage their work to hit deadlines, communicate their ideas clearly and effectively, and demonstrate how they have met every aspect of the brief.
The Alu D&T Challenge contains 4 different challenges:
- Transport 'T for two'
- Built environment 'Inspired by nature'
- Packaging 'Portion control'
- Technology 'Tough tech'
