GCSE Success 2016

Congratulations to all the Year 12 students who are celebrating their impressive GCSE results. A staggering 99% of students achieved A*-C grades so it is no surprise that there were tears of joy in the car park of St Dominic's today as a steady stream of students collected outstanding sets of results.

In St Dominic's, sisters certainly are doing it for themselves. In the Wilkinson household, twins Amy and Megan are undoubtedly celebrating, having achieved 10A* grades each. There is certainly no sibling rivalry in that household where the identical twins are celebrating their matching success and their place as two of the top achieving students in their year.

Taking her place with them with 10 A * and an A grade, is Muireann Kearney. It was another case of 'Sister Act' as her sister Blanaid celebrated with her in the car park yesterday, having achieved 2A*s, an A and a B in her A Levels last week. They were joined by Year 12 student Orlaith Kennedy who achieved 10A* grades. The Kennedy household is also showered with A Grades; Orlaith's sister Niamh achieved A* A A, grades in her A Levels last week. It was certainly a case of 'Sister Act' with the three sets of sisters having amassed a staggering 45A*/A grades between them!

Amy Hookings and Meabh Reynolds are also enjoying double success. Alongside Amy's 8A*s and 2As, she also secured a place on the prestigious Rank Foundation, which means that she will receive a bursary and will be given entrepreneurial apprenticeships with leading UK companies. Likewise, as well as achieving an impressive 5A*s and 4As, Meabh has recently received a scholarship from the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship Trust.

These GCSE students, their parents and teachers are proud of their achievements and the girls are looking forward to embarking on their chosen courses at A Level.
