QUAKER PEACE AND RECONCILIATION DAY AT STORMONT Monday 20th March 2017

Year 13s and 14s of St Dominic's were invited to a wonderful event in the Long Gallery at Stormont with students from Sandy Springs Quaker School in Maryland, USA and Friends' School, Lisburn.  We were also joined by some Masters students from Philadelphia and Corrymeela's Facing History team.

Duncan Morrow gave an excellent keynote address focusing on reconciliation in Northern Ireland - the hurdles and opportunities.  Then the students had an opportunity to have a Question and Answer session with 5 MLAs.

These included:

Barry McElduff - Sinn Fein

Paul Givan - DUP

Gerry Carrol - People Before Profit

Clare Bailey - Green party

David Ford - Alliance

The questioning was predictably robust at this time and the MLAs were excellent sports willing to answer any question whilst in panel and afterwards with individual students at refreshments.

Many thanks to Friends' School and in particular Jamie Artt for facilitating the day.
