Having won the Belfast Heat of the National Bar Mock Trial Competition in November, the team had spent months preparing to compete in the UK Final. The team were fortunate enough to have the support of barrister mentors who helped and guided them throughout the process of building the cases. They travelled over to London to compete on Saturday 25th March in the Royal Courts of Justice against the regional winners from England, Scotland and Wales. The 24 teams from across the UK took on the roles of barristers, witnesses, jury members and court staff to prosecute and defend two cases relating to assault and knife possession respectively. The team performed to a very high standard on the day and were a credit to the school. Aoife O’Connor received a special award of recognition for her role as an Usher on the day, and Roise McCann was the UK Winner of the Court Reporter competition. The certificates of achievement were presented by Sir Brian Leveson and the team (and staff) were also excited to meet Judge Rinder on the day!
