Congratulations to Sophia Lavery Year 12 who won the Soroptimist International Public Speaking Competition. Soroptimist International is a woman’s organisation made up of women from various professions. The members care about issues that affect women and girls and their main purpose is to make a difference, whilst helping others.
Their annual Public Speaking Competition is a very prestigious event and Sophia competed against 30 other students to take first place. The judges commended her ‘beautiful delivery’ and her ‘sophisticated use of language’. She really deserved to win and we are very proud of her.
We are also enormously proud of her team-mates who delivered speeches of outstanding quality and content. The judges commended the whole team and remarked on their eloquent delivery and the intelligent content of their speeches.
They are excellent ambassadors for the school. So well done also to, Maria Aaroy, Emma Mc Donagh, (Year12) and Meadbh Fennell and Grace Mc Shane (Year 13).
We wish Sophia well in the upcoming Northern Ireland final in February!
