St Dominic’s is highly academic school, however not only is school work a central aspect so is our love for Gaelic football. The outstanding PE department has inspired many girls to get involved through publicising the sport, and by encouraging pupils to speak about these positive experiences at assemblies. This positivity associated with GAA has helped pupils live a balanced healthy lifestyle.  Gaelic football follows an exemplary structure at our school.  It consists of after and before school sessions. 7.30am training focuses on improving match fitness and allows us a chance to work together and make friendships. At St Dominic’s we are encouraged to reach our potential and meet the challenges of the twenty first century.  This structure allows us to manage our time better, we can study and still play sport, it is why we are U16 Ulster Champions 2018. This has also motivated our u14 team to follow in our footsteps and they have now achieved a place in the Ulster Semi-final. St Dominic’s is a community committed to mutual respect where individuals are valued, respected, and empowered to reach our potential which in turn encourages us to do our best on the field of play whether they play for school club or county.  This award will help us start next season which commitment, new goals and self-belief.
