Eco-Club wins Third Place in Environmental Competition

St Dominic’s Eco-Club has won 3rd Place in Young Reporter for the Environment in the Video Category for 11-14 with their video entitled: “Bad Romance with Plastic” which takes a look at our reliance on plastic, the issues associated with this and addresses what we can do to combat the problem. The entry can be viewed on the school website, Youtube and is also published on the YRE Hub, an international blog/platform open to students and a useful tool for them to published their thoughts and ideas about environmental issue and solutions. https://yrehub.global/stories/

The Eco-Club attended a prize giving ceremony to receive their certificate on Tuesday 11th June in Bangor Town Hall. As part of the day the students listened to speeches from the council, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful and shared their thoughts on environmental issues. They also visited Bangor council’s ‘Seabin Project’, which collects rubbish from the sea and is the first such project in Northern Ireland. The students also conducted a litter pick in Castle Park.
