The recent Past Pupils Reunion was a wonderful celebration of our school’s rich sporting heritage and the enduring bonds formed through generations of pupils.
The evening brought together former players, their families and members of the Dominican community to share memories, stories and friendships spanning almost three decades of school history. Those represented included members of teams from 1938–39 through to 1967–68, with several former captains among those attending or contributing. Senior Camogie Captin Maeve Devlin welcomed the past pupils an read a piece from Moira Ward 53/54 all the way from America.
It was particularly special to see past and present generations connected through a shared pride in their school. Current students pass the historic team photographs every day, but the reunion brought those images to life as former players recounted their experiences and reflected on the friendships and sense of belonging that began during their school years.
We were delighted to welcome Sr Geraldine Smyth and Sr Majella Fitzpatrick and greatly appreciated hearing Sr Geraldine’s reflections during the evening.
A number of former pupils who could not attend in person shared written contributions, including memories from across Ireland and overseas. Family members also represented former players who have passed away, ensuring that their contribution to the school’s sporting tradition was remembered and celebrated.
The reunion highlighted the strength of the connections that continue long after school days have ended and generated great enthusiasm for future gatherings. It was a fitting tribute to the many women who have represented the school over the years and a reminder of the lasting legacy they have created.
The Past Pupils Union would like to thank everyone who attended, contributed memories and helped make the evening such a memorable and meaningful occasion.
