We offer this programme with a number of Year 8 classes in the summer term. Sponsored by the International Olympic Committee Solidarity Fund & the Olympic Federation of Ireland, the ‘Dare to Believe’ programme aims to inspire the young people of Ireland to Dare to Believe in themselves through an interactive curriculum that explores the Olympic Values. It includes visits (both inperspon and online) with Team Ireland Olympic and Paralympic role models that bring the values to life. Pupils who complete a series of Olympian ‘Rings’ (edcuational activities and actions) are awarded with the linked awards.
In June for example 8C joined over 12,000 Irish students at the online 'Olympians Live' event. The pupils had a chance to meet Grainne Walsh, an Irish Olympian boxer and Tiernan O'Donnell an Irish Paralympian rower. 8C were selected to present questions to Grainne at the live event. This event marked the launch of our school's Dare to Believe summer extension programme.
