St Dominic’s run a research programme in conjunction with Bath University and Global Action Plan.  In 2025 we had 2 teams of participants (Year 9s and Year 13s).  The programme centres on Common Values and involves the completion of a series of tasks including: - team discussions and feedback, viewing video clips, collating team opinions and the completion of ranking tasks and a series of individual online surveys (while navigating the trick questions!).  In 2026 for the firs

The Irish Department is delighted to be part of the Gaelbhratach scheme this year. Caitríona Fox, Erin O’Brien and Aoibhín Ní Dhuibhfinn form the Gaelbhratach committee will be working hard alongside Ms Clarke to showcase Irish as more than a classroom subject in the school. They have already created and displayed Irish language signage throughout the school and will be taking a leading role in organising our annual Irish language Feis this year.

The Irish Department is delighted to have hosted our first ever Feis Naomh Doiminic. This day celebrates Seachtain na Gaeilge and offers our Irish students the opportunity to celebrate Irish culture with music, dance and poetry. Science Club has returned on a Thursday afternoon for Year 8s and the students have definitely enjoyed themselves. They have made their own salt crystal Christmas decorations and had fun competing to see how big they could grow gummy bears. They have made their own rain clouds in a jar and lava lamp also. This is an opportunity available to Year 9 & 10 students only. Run through the Young Citizens ‘citizenship experiences’ it helps improve young people’s understanding of the justice system and the legal system as they take on the roles of barristers, witnesses and court staff in a fictitious court case against other schools. Feis Bhéal Feirste is a charity which promotes the Irish language in non-Irish medium schools located in the greater Belfast area. They host poetry and conversation competitions for both primary and secondary schools in order to encourage the use and study of Irish amongst our youth. St Dominic’s take part in Feis Bhéal Feirste each year as it is a great opportunity for the girls to engage with the language and enhance their confidence with the spoken language.
