Spanish club

Spanish Club meets every other week during lunch for Years 8 and 9. Everyone is welcome to come along. It is a great opportunity to meet with your friends and to learn lots about Spanish culture and traditions, as well as build on your language skills and make other friends in different classes and year groups.  Miss Hardy, alongside our Year 13 Spanish students, organise fun activities which allows you to develop your build confidence and develop your language skills.

This year, we have been learning Spanish songs, doing different crafts (such as creating flamenco dancers and building the Sagrada Familia out of spaghetti and marshmallows), and competing in quizzes about Spanish culture and traditions! Take a look!

Language Mentors

This year, we were very lucky to have two students from Queen’s University visit St Dominic’s as part of the Language Mentors Scheme. They gave a talk to all of Year 12 about the importance of learning a language and where languages can take your career! They also met with some of our students on a weekly basis to give them some one-to-one mentoring.
