Eco Club take part in RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch

The Eco Club took to the school grounds this week to survey the birds that visit St Dominic’s as part of the RSPB’s ‘Big Garden Bird Watch’. The results obtained will be sent to the RSPB for them to gain a nationwide picture of the health of numbers of our birds, the most numerous species identified was the black-headed gull, but lots of species were observed including; wood pigeon, carrion crow, magpies, chaffinch, starling and bluetit. Several Eco Club members also signed up to complete the birdwatch in their own back garden during this weekend – Fri 26th Jan to Sun 28th Jan, they just sit in their garden for one hour and record the birds they will see, then send their results to the RSPB.
